I read a post on Facebook about someone saying a certain artist has no talent because his music is computer generated. I read all 40 or so comments pertaining to these not so great talents of sitting looking at a screen at a concert without picking up a guitar. I have no problem with people not liking computer generated music, but as an artist who generates music electronically, I need to keep conversations like these in my mind to further realize what draws the line between organically writing songs through raw energy and writing songs through a computer without having meaning behind the beats. What people do not realize (non-musicican-art-types) is in order for some people to express themselves throughly, certain tools are required. For me, my creativity requires a laptop with music software, that's just the way my mind has set a course on. I believe in noise and that's fine, but some people think music is just a guitar and I have to understand that not everyone will understand what I am seeing inside myself that myself requires of me as far as tools go. Even though I work with a machine, I still see what I can do to the machine, not what the machine can do. I tell the machine what to do just as most people would tell a guitar what to do with their fingers.
